Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does ABF Athletics stand out?

A: ABF Athletics provides personalized programming to all clients that are tailored to their goals which are adjusted as needed. Training is affordable and with hard work, dedication and my expertise, we can achieve your fitness goals.

Your program will be completely customized to fit your goals, any injuries, likes and dislikes, etc, which I will adjust weekly based on your weight loss and strength progress. After our first session I will review your current fitness level and assess where we need to begin. From there, every week I will review the previous week of training and plan for the following week.

For example, one of my clients has an issue doing some exercises, like jumping jacks and one legged exercises, due to her flat feet. So I will make a note of that and be sure to avoid those types of exercises while still providing her with a workout that will push her to her limits, not past them, and help her reach her goals. All of my programs are not templates or reused. Each session will be filled with new exercises to keep things fresh and challenge you! For that reason, I provide customized, affordable, quality training and nutrition advisement.

Q: What is expected with the initial consultation?

A: The initial meeting is a brief conversation of a review of the client's goals, current routine, if they have any injuries, etc., so I can begin to write my personalized program for them. After, I will assess their physical fitness through a process of posture and functional assessments to get to know more about their body. Time providing within the hour we will also run through a brief workout.

Q: How can I prepare for my first session?

A: All you need for your first session is comfortable clothes and shoes. We have lockers, water fountains, and locker rooms at the gym.

Q: Why should someone think about hiring a trainer?

A: Personal training is essential to achieving your goals and sticking to them. It can be difficult to know what you're doing in a gym on your own. Not having a program to keep you on track that is specifically tailored to your needs and goals can lead to lack of motivation and results. I know the feeling as when I began to work out and attempt to lose weight, I felt lost and hopeless seeing all the information online advertising "lose 20 lbs this week!". These unrealistic goals resulted in my disappointment when I felt there was something wrong with me that I could not lose weight. Finding a trainer that takes the time to know YOU and takes the time to find what works best for you is hard to come by. Most trainers will give you a good "workout" without showing you the progression of strength, weight loss, muscle gain, etc., that is on track to reaching your goals.

Q: What kind of nutrition advisement will I receive?

A: Current nutrition habits and lifestyle is assessed at the initial consultation. You will receive a "grocery list" of healthy foods that will help you reach your goals. We will then go through what you eat on a daily basis and see what adjustments can be made to improve your nutrition. Each client will start with a food diary and progress into counting their calories and macronutrients that will be adjusted after each weigh in. With this, you will never have to give up any of your favorite foods. If you can fit them into your calorie count, you can eat them in moderation. We will approach nutrition as fueling your body with proper nutrients rather than a "die-t".
